Spinomed Back orthosis for osteoporosis

The Spinomed Back Orthosis is designed for people with osteoporosis and works by activating the back muscles through a belt system and back support that trigger biofeedback. This helps gently straighten the upper body and counter the spinal curvature associated with osteoporosis.

The orthosis supports the muscles in holding the shoulders back while allowing free movement of the shoulders and arms and unhindered breathing. When optimally adjusted, Spinomed can help reduce pain and increase day-to-day mobility.

Intended Purpose

When worn, Spinomed activates the back muscles to gently straighten the upper body. The back splint and strap system support the muscles in holding the shoulders back and maintaining a straighter upper-body position while stimulating the body's own muscle resources.

• Osteoporotic bone collapse in the thoracic and lumbar spine
• Hyperkyphosis with chronic back pain
• Juvenile Scheuermann`s disease

Wearing & Fit

Spinomed is worn over clothing and can be put on similarly to a rucksack. For easier application, standing in front of a long mirror can help with positioning.

For proper fit:

• The back brace should sit closely against the spine.
• The bottom edge should be level with the buttock cleft.
• Straps should not be twisted.
• The shoulder pad should fit comfortably without the strap cutting into the underarm area.
• Reverse buckles should not press into the sides.
• The closing edge should sit immediately on top of the batten.
